Michael Phan-Ba- Nutrition Facts
When I started reading into the research behind front-of-label nutrition information, I realized that while the science behind the data is informative, it lacked in emotion. To me, nutrition has always been about eating good foods. Having fresh fruits and vegetables from the local farmer's market means much more to me than the numbers on a label. So in redesigning the food label, I focused on the food rather than numbers. The product's contribution to daily food groups take center stage on the label. High levels of saturated fat, trans fat, and sodium content are flagged right away. Items to keep a lookout for are color-coded. Allergen information is made easier to spot with distinct symbols. The traditional numerical data is made more useful in graph form. Using patterns of colors and shapes, this food label is more intuitive and easier to understand.
